About Me

I first became interested in herbal medicine when, in the 1990's, I had developed allergies to dyes, food additives and colours. I was given a gift of a book entitled Alternatives to Chemical Medications. It listed botanical remedies for various ailments. This inspired me to seek out educational opportunities so I could learn more about natural remedies.

I went on to home study the chartered herbalist course from Dominion Herbal College in British Colombia and after finishing it in 2002, I realized I wanted to have a broader education in the field.

At the time I was living in rural Quebec, and through internet searches I found Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario was offering a Diploma in Phytotherapy (Herbal Medicine). As a result, I move to Ontario and started school in late 2002.

As it is a part time program I finished in 2010 after passing 47 courses and received more than 300 hours in clinic training through other herbalists as well as the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. The Mohawk program is unfortunately no longer offered but was a very in depth program of more than 2,500 hours of study. Subjects included were anatomy, physiology, botany, pathology, materia medica, physical exam technique, differential diagnosis, biochemistry and phytochemistry. I was taught by a medical doctor on staff at McMaster University, Naturopathic doctors, Herbalists and a plant biologist, to mention a few. I now have my own practise in Hamilton, Ontario and hope that I can make a positive difference in the health of others. I am a registered professional member of the Ontario Herbalist Association.
